Manamee Guha is a doctoral candidate of history specializing in imperial cultural history of British India in 19th and 20th centuries. Her wide-ranging research on British social clubs in India looks at both gentlemanly clubs of Calcutta and other presidencies (including issues related to sports, diplomatic events, and even sanitary hygiene) as well as an exploration of the "white subaltern" including drunken behaviour and nautch parties.
